Part of the Caught by Cupid series
Have you ever known a secret; one that you couldn’t share because if you did it could very well cost you your life? That’s exactly what Jena the heroine of Bianca D’Arc’s Forever Valentine must face.
Jena’s learned that vampires really do exist when one of her best friends is near death's door and is saved by a vampire she later marries. Before long, all of the other friends in Jena’s group also end up marrying vampires; all except Jena. Being the only ‘human’ remaining in the tight knit group, the head vampire assigns an ‘enforcer’ to watch over Jena and ensure that she keeps their secret under penalty of death, even though Jena has no intention of saying a word.
For centuries, Ian Sinclair has walked the earth, doing the vampires bidding while searching for his perfect mate. He’s both intrigued and bothered by the petite lady doctor he’s assigned to watch and before long is drawn to her in a way he’s never felt before. What would it be like to make love to Jena and could she be his perfect mate? Ian follows her nearly everywhere, including to a bistro where Jena suffers through yet another horrible Valentine’s Day date. Later that evening, after ridding herself of the dud date, she invites Ian in for a glass of wine.
Jena never expected to fall in love with the handsome vamp assigned to watch her. Over the months she grows accustomed to having him around, even finding an odd sense of security in knowing he’s there. Now as their conversation turned more serious, she finds herself at a crossroads. Knowing the rare blood disorder she carries will take her at an early age, Jena confesses her heart to Ian and asks him for one night of passion, one night of feeling like she’s wanted and loved before she dies. Ian knows he shouldn’t, but can’t help himself when just one kiss would break the rules he’s vowed to uphold, but the temptation is just too strong. Is it possible that a vampire and human could find love?
Recently I’ve been on a bit of a vampire kick, so I have to say that I really enjoyed this story. However, there were moments I felt were a bit over the top and really pushed my ability to suspend reality. Still, Ms. D’Arc did a wonderful job of catching the reader by the heartstrings and pulling them into the story. Jena and Ian’s passion for one another is soulful and touching. If you’re a vampire fan who loves a good romance then Forever Valentine is the story for you.
