With Halloween approaching, I was looking for a hot little tale to suit the season, and boy did I find what I was looking for in Debi Wilder's By the Blue Moon, the first book in the Blue Moon Magic Trilogy.

I'm one to prefer vampire stories to those of werewolves, but I have to admit that Ms. Wilder's creation of the world of a modern day werewolf clan was as enjoyable as the sexual encounters she describes.

We first meet red-haired Chastity Langford as she is taking a little "me" time in her office as her mind and hands are indulging her in a most unchaste fantasy. For some reason, now that she is in her thirties, she can’t stop thinking of sex. True, she hasn't had any yet so she doesn’t know what she was missing, but she most certainly wants to find out.

Not one to be interrupted, Chastity continues her pleasures during a meeting in her father's office with the benefit of a little vibrating device hidden in her panties. But as soon as she steps into her father's office, her little toy is forgotten as her sexual heat intensifies a thousandfold when her eyes land on the incredibly masculine body of Justin Matthews. He’s a detestable man, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have an itch to find out what he'd be like without his pants.

Justin Matthews knows the future of his race of werewolves lies in his successful mating with Chastity Langford on the night of the Blue Moon. He's been waiting since he was three years old for this particular time in his life, and he isn't about to wait much longer. It's going to be such a pleasure to teach the little minx everything she needs to know about being a she-wolf.

Even before Chastity walks in the door, Justin smells her. The black wolf in him takes over his senses, throwing images into his head of them mating on the night of the Blue Moon. The sight of her flaming red hair is enough to excite his passions to the point of being nearly unbearable. He's the chosen one and she is his mate. How will ever wait until the proper time to take her? And what if he fails in the task that lies before the mating ritual? He knows he must succeed, he must have this woman, or the future of his bloodline is doomed.

Ms. Wilder artfully weaves the story of a family of three sisters born of a werewolf into a deliciously erotic romance. By the Blue Moon is everything you could want an erotic novella to be: arousing, amusing and authentic. She has crafted a storyline that would stand on its own even if the characters weren't so much in lust with each other. The addition of untamed desire between the main characters is just the icing on this sweet little cake.

Hopefully soon, I'll be able to sample the delights of Chastity, the second Langford sister, as her story unfolds in Twice in a Blue Moon.
