Review:

Ever wondered what it would be like to be truly swept off your feet? Your eyes meet across a bloody battle scene, birds sing and bell rings letting you know he’s the man, except he’s not really a man, but a creature who lives on blood. Just maybe, it’s not one unnatural creature that speeds up your heart, but two. Oh, there is the issue that you happen to be married to a petty king. Doesn’t sound like your typical love story, but when you’re ready for something different there’s Charlotte Boyett-Campo’s latest novel, WyndRaider.

Lillian is having a really bad day. It isn’t enough that she is married to an abusive, cruel king, Now, a really scary leech general grabs her to be his sexual plaything just to bait another warlord Saxxon Kell. Add to this that the crazed wife of the leech master is definitely out to get her. Just when it seems like things couldn’t possibly get any worse, Saxxon Kell storms into the castle vowing to take her. There is only one thing for a sumptuous beauty to do: take charge of the situation and the headstrong males.

Saxxon Kell, legendary warrior, is summoned by the king to rescue his wife, Lillian. One look at the portrait of Lillian and he knows this woman is his. The king doesn’t matter. The warlord who holds her doesn’t matter. Nothing will get in his way of obtaining his woman—that is the way of his kind. Of course, he hasn’t met Lillian yet.

Saxxon Kell’s decision to take what he wants does not come without consequences. Nor should he underestimate the wrath of a woman scorned, his ex-fiancé Davina. As for Lillian, she’s unsure of what she wants except to return to her father and sisters, although the handsome Saxxon Kell intrigues her, but then there’s his sworn enemy, Milich Caisil-Chro who’s pretty hot too. She is determined to fight her attraction to both bloodsuckers and live as ordinary of a life as possible as a discarded queen.

WyndRaider is full of passion on several levels; from Lillian’s fight to survive, to Saxxon’s quest to secure his woman, to the battle between Milich and Saxxon. Along with the passion is the action that never ends, that grabs you with Saxxon entering the king’s chamber to the last page. Charlotte Boyett-Campo creates intricate worlds with a variety of unusual characters and complex cultures. As for chemistry, be prepared for your computer to overheat.

WyndRaider is another must read from Charlotte Boyett-Campo. It delivers on the promise of sensual entertainment. The cover by Syneca is mouth-watering. Mary Moranis is also to be commended for an excellent editing job. The book is a delicious team effort. Don’t miss it.
