For me, Judy Mays is one of the most talented writers out there and I find it amazing that the New York publishers haven’t “discovered” her. They don’t know what they are missing: a writer with a serious ability to draw the reader into the story from the first page.
Meredythe Walsh is a hard-driven reporter determined to get to the truth. So when her boss pulls her off the story she has worked so hard on, she storms into his office to have a showdown. What she finds is her boss in the middle of a meeting with one of the, if not the most gorgeous man she has ever seen, a man who it seems holds an unnatural attraction for her. But when she is given a new story to investigate she turns her attention to a possible serial killer who uses a “wolf” dog.
Dr. Bleddyn Glydwr is an expert in wolves and wolf crossbreeds, just the man Meredythe needs to see. But Bleddyn is more than an expert in wolves; he is a man with a long and violent past with only one hope for a better future. And that hope is Meredythe Walsh, the reincarnation of his bonded mate.
That hope may be crushed when an old enemy from Bleddyn’s past returns once again to snatch Bleddyn’s mate from his arms. Can he save her before his descent into violence drags them both further into madness or death?
Judy Mays’ Fires of Solstice grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let you go. Meredythe is a strong, independent woman determined not to quietly submit to what fate has decreed for her and Bleddyn is a man driven by forces beyond his control.
As with all of Ms. Mays’ books, this one is a keeper. Outside of that I think Fires of Solstice is certainly one of the best ebooks I have read in a long time, indeed, one of the best books period. If you have not read any of her previous books, grab this one up.
