The good is because the publisher of the Tempe books didn’t know anything about e-publishing, I kept my e-pub rights. Hard Shell Word Factory who had published a ghost story of mine, Kachima Spirit as a trade paperback and e-book, I approached them about doing the Tempe series as e-books. They were willing, and also published Deadly Trail, an Eppie finalist, as an e-book and trade paperback.
Then tragedy struck. The small press publisher had a stroke and died. Horrible. Not only was she my publisher, she’d also become my friend. This was my second experience with a publisher dying. The first time it happened after the acceptance of a book but before publication. This made me a bit wary of small presses with only one person as the owner. I’d met the publishers of Mundania Press and was impressed. I approached Mundania about publishing the latest in the series and was accepted. Calling the Dead and Judgment Fire, an Eppie finalist and winner of the Golden Quill Award for mystery, are the two latest and can be purchased all the usual ways in trade paperback from, or as e-books from the publisher or Fictionwise.com
While all this was going on, I also was writing other books including what I call Christian horror–really, really scary with a Christian theme. Treble Heart Press had published a stand-alone mystery, Guilt by Association, and published Deeds of Darkness and Cup of Demons. All are available as e-books and trade paperback from my website and the publisher’s.
Hard Shell Word Factory also published a psychological horror of mine called, Wishing Makes It So, which won Best Horror from USA Books and Best Thriller from American Authors Association.
As you can see, despite all the pitfalls that came along, I didn’t give up.
