Review:

My kids spend a lot of time outdoors and at ages two and three they pay attention to everything from stars to frogs. Slither Slide, What's Outside? is a book I knew they'd enjoy.

Written with preschoolers in mind, the book contains actual photographs from nature plus drawings of children that relate to the photograph. Each two page topic is described in rhyming prose.

My daughter, who is three, prefers text that rhymes because she can guess what words might be coming next when I read to her so I try whenever possible to choose bedtime books that rhyme.

Slither Slide, What's Outside? is a book that makes a wonderful introduction to the natural world for children who might spend a lot of time indoors. It offers opportunities for parents to teach about nature, weather, animals and the night sky in a way that seem natural rather than forced.

An easy to read book, but full of ideas to explore, Slither Slide, What's Outside? will be on my toddler's bedside table.
