I’d read several erotic romances and enjoyed them—really enjoyed them. So once again my confidence rose. How hard could it be? Heck. I knew a lot about sex. What married woman didn’t? Furthermore, if I was going to do this then I would start with the most intimidating subject I could think of in erotic romance—BDSM.

Ohmygod! After reading a few books on the subject, I was beside myself. I didn’t know people actually did those things. But it intrigued me enough that a story idea popped in my and I started to write.

Well… I have to admit that my first attempt at writing erotic romance was a bust. My sex scenes read like a how to manual: put hand here, move finger up and down. LOL Not to mention, every time someone came near me while I was working I felt like I’d just got caught with the proverbial “hand in the cookie jar”. You know that feeling. The one that makes you wish you were invisible or you could turn back the hands of time so you could hide.

I knew that in order for me to succeed I needed to get past this insecurity—the embarrassment. My saving grace was my friend/mentor, Cheyenne McCray, an established author I’d meet at Desert Rose.

When Cheyenne critiqued my sex scene she spoke so casually of body parts that I could only say in a whisper. Additionally, she taught me the value of words, how just the right one can make a difference. With her support and guidance I found with each new scene I became more confident. Before I knew it I could say those delicate words without blushing. It wasn’t long before intimate scenes came naturally. And, hot damn! They were fun to write.

I completed THE GAME, a futuristic story set on a pleasure planet, the summer of 2004 and emailed it to an editor at Ellora’s Cave. While I waited for a response, Cheyenne asked me to co-write a story from her successful Wonderland series, which I did. I was on a roll…
