Review:

Oh baby, as much as I love chocolate, it is homemade soup that makes my heart patter. Now take note, opening a can and warming up, even on a stove, does not count. Yeah, a way to a girl's heart can be through her stomach too. It's not so much the good food, it's the care and thought. Now I don’t expect my man to go out and hunt down the veggies in the forest. (Foraging no longer seems adequate a word for it.) I also don’t expect myself to go out and find the rarest of garlics in a far flung town or to slave over the stove for fourteen hours as a certain Italian woman used to boast in a certain sitcom about four feisty ladies in Florida over sixty. (Google it if you don’t know what I am talking about). This book A Soup A Day is going in my wedding gift basket. It is also going on my shelf.

The photography is, oh my eyes, gorgeous! The soups, delicious, and so different. Yes yes yes she really has one for everyday and no repeats. Here is the kicker—there is a calendar layout for those who are too ditzy to make one themselves, and one of my favorite features is the seasonal issue of what goes when. So if you are like me, and shop not only when prices are best, but foods are local and at their peak, this book A Soup A Day is for you. Many easy to make recipes! It also makes a great gift for home warming, get well soon, baby shower, and any other excuse you can think of to include a reason to give your favorite soupier soup lover this book, even if it's just to make them smile.
