Chris Almeida Day 3 – Personal tempest

[Forward] [Back]

Just as life put me in the right path, it also put rough surfaces and sharp corners. My dream of attending university for literature and languages was cut short. The subjects in University were not what I expected and being fluent in English made the course redundant to a big extent. I was gaining no new knowledge and that has always been a big thing for me.

I didn’t want to waste time. I wanted more, more knowledge, more enrichment from the course and I wasn’t getting any. So, possibly due to immaturity of my late teens, I took a different turn that led me to Law school. Law school enriched my knowledge bank but didn’t make me happy. I learned a lot from it and I can’t say I wasted years of my life because as long as I was learning something new, it wasn’t wasted time to me.

Yet, I couldn’t settle on being a lawyer or a prosecutor. At the same time, my curiosity made me continue to move on, farther from the original path I had imagined set for me.

At the age of twenty-two, I finally accomplished my original goal. I visited Ireland and spent the most amazing five months of my life there. I did what I had set myself to do. I walked the land, I saw the places with my own eyes, smelled the salty air blowing from the sea at Galway Bay, sheltered my eyes from the sun at the summit of Knocknarea, walked down Grafton Street and saw the colorful and amazing hand written pages of the Book of Kells. After five months there, I returned to my country re-energized by the experience, fluent in the English language (both written and spoken), and yet feeling empty. Although the goal had been achieved, the soul yearned for more.

During the years that followed, I made career choices that led me far from writing fiction. Personal choices also played a role in my parting from writing as a career but those, although tempestuous at the time, they can be seen now as another defining point and pivotal turn that led me, through many back alleys and unpaved roads, to where I am now.

Tomorrow: Chris Almeida Day 4 – Twists and turns of the road.

Bio
Chris Almeida (also known as C. Almeida) began writing children’s stories at a very young age. Born in Brazil but currently living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Chris’ life took a totally different course when technology came into play, and the following 17 years were spent delving deep into the world of programming and web design.

It was in 2010, when Chris began role playing online as a hobby, that writing worm its way back into the picture. This time, writing storylines for the role playing group.

The ideas and plots created for the game awoke the inner writer and a few months later, together with partner in crime Cecilia Aubrey (C. Aubrey), began writing romantic erotica.

Now, still together, they have written a number of short stories and novels and are currently working on book two and three of their series as well as several short stories part of the spin off series. Through it all they have continued to enjoy role playing through their favorite characters.
