Dr. Tamara Martin was ecstatic. She had been hired to assist The Ivy League Beast. Acting as field assistant to archeologist Professor SinJin Twine would make Tam's reputation within the archeologist community, and she was not going to let anything stand in her way! Not "The Pascal Curse" and certainly not the reputation of the "Beast"!
SinJin Twaine was a tenured professor with Princeton University but preferred to get down and dirty doing archeological excavations. His current project was the prize of Mundo Maya--the Tomb of Shield Jaguar. However, he had one minor problem; he needed a new field assistant! The assistants Princeton had sent to him up to now left much to be desired. Thus, when he got his first look at his new field assistant dressed in a ragged, ripped suit, speckled with mud, carrying her heals and limping along, he thought they'd sent him another imbecilic, inexperienced field assistant.
Their first meeting was anything but cordial. Sinj didn't want her on his dig even if she was a beautiful, blond bombshell of a woman. Tam thought he was a rude bum of a man. A hunk, but a bum, nevertheless!
Those dark feelings didn't last very long once they began working together. Now, in addition to dealing with the difficulties of working an archeology dig, they had to deal with their sizzling attraction. Then to top it all off, strange things began to occur at the dig as ghostly voices sounded off, touches were felt and the tomb and ruins were vandalized.
The author, Therese MacFarland, said MAYAN NIGHTS is her first published novel. I found that incredibly hard to believe. MAYAN NIGHTS is what writing is all about! If this is an example of her first work, one can only imagine what her later work will be like!
The words just seemed to flow! The descriptions of Pascal, Cozmano and the dig are so real that you get the sense you are right there with Sinj and Tam. The secondary characters and touches of suspense and paranormal elements add to this wonderful story. And lest I forget, the inferno of an attraction between SinJin and Tamara keep you hooked. Sinj is my kind a guy, and Tam's Plan A is one I'd like to try out myself-some time!
MAYAN NIGHTS is awesome! If you haven't read it already, be sure you do!
