Oceanview September News
It's September and the children are back in school. More time to read!!
Oceanview Publishing would love to help you
fill that quiet time...
Let's start with our new release, The Devil's Madonna by Sharon Potts. The story is set in present-day Miami Beach and 1930s Berlin. It's about guilt, fear, hate and redemption. And it is controversial. Read it and ask yourself...What if? New York Times best-selling author Jeffery Deaver says, "The Devil's Madonna is rich with high-concept, captivating characters, and a relentless plot that simply won't let go." Do not miss this book. You can get in hard cover, ebook, or as an audio book from Brilliance Audio.
Our August book, Run To Ground by D.P. Lyle, is off to a roaring start. This book raises the question...What would you do? What would you do if someone brutally murdered your only child, got off on a technicality, serving only months for a minor infraction, and continually taunted and threatened you from behind bars?
Read this gripping story and find out what Tim and Martha Foster did.

Category Five is now available in all eBook formats!
In the Atlantic Ocean, hurricane Helena is gathering strength, becoming the most powerful storm in recorded history. As Helena bears down on Bermuda, Donovan Nash, along with other members of the scientific research organization Eco-Watch, are called to fly in and extract key government people who have been studying Helena. For Donovan Nash, the routine mission turns deadly when an attempt is made on the life of the lead scientist.A woman from the past, Dr. Lauren McKenna, is suddenly thrust back into his life. With 300 mph winds and waves over 90 feet, Helena marches relentlessly for the vulnerable east coast of the United States. In a bold attempt to diffuse the power of the hurricane, Eco-Watch is called upon to conduct a final flight above the massive fury, where the jet suffers a catastrophic engine failure.
Now the only option is to maneuver the crippled airplane into the calm of Helena's eye.
Coming in October!
Next month I will be telling you about our stellar October release, The Rendition by former Special Forces operative and instructor, Albert Ashforth. I've read this one twice already. You do not want to miss it. While you're waiting for its release, pick up your dictionary or get on your computer and look up the definitions of "rendition". It's taken on some new meanings.
Finally, I am thrilled to report that this past month, Jeremy Bates' novel, White Lies, hit number 1 on the Amazon Kindle best seller list. Yes, I did say number one!! Congratulations Jeremy. What a start for a debut novel.
Well, enjoy the weather, the solitude, and our books. And keep on reading.

Your marketing plan, should we accept your manuscript for publication. We expect our authors to be active in the marketing of their titles alongside our efforts.
Although we like to encourage open, free and creative expression, do let us know whether the piece contains any questionable content. We may put disclaimers about content if it could potentially disturb our reader, so do let us know in advance. For instance, we allow rape under certain circumstances, but it should not be meant to titillate. Writing about child abuse is one thing, but we aren't interested in seeing the acts described in detail. Eternal Press is also interested in stories with a happy ending.
Attach the following to your cover letter in .doc or .rtf format:
For stories less than 50,000 words: Send us the complete manuscript with your contact information, title, word count, and genre at the top of the first page.
For novels 50,000 and up: Send us the first three chapters and the last chapter, with your contact information, title, word count, and genre at the top of the first page.
Your manuscript should contain either 1-1/2 or double spacing and one inch margins. Use a 12 pt. Book Antiqua, Times Roman, or Georgia font.
Send to Eternal Press with a subject line: SUBMISSIONS_your name_book title to...

Please allow six to eight weeks for a response.
Eternal Press pays 40% royalties on net revenue to the Author for eBooks and 25% net on revenue for print. We hold all rights for five (5) years from date of publication. We do not pay advances. Rights requested are worldwide for ebooks and US, Canada, Australian, and UK print rights.
If we accept your manuscript for publication, we will supply you with specific formatting guidelines. You must be able to edit with a track changes feature (Microsoft word has this).
Eternal Press clearly distinguishes between romance, erotic romance, and erotica. GLBT romance may be any flame level depending on language, theme, the development of the romantic relationship, and sexual frequency and intensity.
Heat levels...
Sweet -1 flame (anything from no romance to sex behind closed doors)
Mild -2 flames (can contain several lovemaking scenes without graphic language)
Highly Sensual - 3 flames (can include hot, frequent love scenes, standard for mainstream romance)
Erotic Romance - 4 flames (includes clinical or graphic terms for body parts and intercourse. The story must contain a romantic theme. It may include light BDSM, GBLT, ménage and anal sex as long as its frequency does not outweigh vanilla sex.)
Erotica-5 flames (highly explicit/graphic/frequent may include heavier use of BDSM, ménage and anal. Not entirely dependent on romance.)
*Note: Some online retailers will ask for a different rating when we sell through them.
Our books are available in many formats through our Eternal Press website, Fictionwise, Amazon, CoffeeTime Romance, All Romance eBooks, Amazon Digital, Kobo, Itunes, Blio, Content Reserve and more. The list is continually growing as Content Reserve and LSI distribute eBooks to many other retailers like Chapters/Indigo, Borders, Books on Board, eBook Mall, book expos, and foreign Libraries. LSI print distribution includes US, Canada, UK, and Australia.
These guidelines are subject to change without notice.

We are open for submissions in "forbidden" romance genres, particularly ménage, BDSM, homoerotic and capture/abduction stories from authors who are passionate about erotic romance. Sex scenes must sizzle, be explicit, use adult language and leaving nothing to the imagination. Books can be set in contemporary, historical, paranormal/fantasy worlds, etc. All books MUST possess a strong, romance-oriented plot and have a happily-ever-after or happy-for-now ending. We are NOT interested in books that are strictly sexfests. Our goal is to cultivate authors with vivid, passionate voices and the ability to deliver well-crafted characters and relationships. We're most interested in books of 40,000 to 60,000 words, but will consider works as short as 20,000 and as long as 80,000. Nothing under 20,000 words will be considered at this time. We are a royalty paying company. Digital royalties are 40%.
Submission Guidelines
Send submissions to submissions@forbiddenpassionpress.com and attach:
A detailed synopsis (2 to 5 pages describing setting and main characters and outlining full plot, including resolution).
Your complete manuscript (doc or rtf format).
The subject line of the email should say SUBMISSION: your name and the title of your book.
We are an electronic publisher, so we accept only electronic submissions. Please do not attempt to send us printed submissions via snail mail. They will not be considered.
Thoroughly self-edit your submission. Clean type and grammatically error-free manuscripts receive more consideration. We have no required format for your manuscript, but suggest using one-inch margins and a variable-space, easy-to-read font (such as Times Roman, Arial, Book Antigua).
Previously published authors: We will consider your out-of-print books if you hold exclusive rights.
No manuscript will be considered that is in any way demeaning to an individual or group of people.
Here are elements that cross the line from "forbidden" to distasteful:
NO pedophilia.
NO incest.
NO sex with a minor.
NO violent rape as titillation. Rape may be used as part of the plot, especially as backstory supporting character development. Actual violence against a character should not be graphically depicted. Scenes with dubious consent may be considered if it's clear that all parties are enjoying the experience.
NO bodily functions (e.g., "golden showers").
NO necrophilia.
NO weapons used for sexual purposes and/or shoved into orifices.
NO bestiality. This rule refers to actual animals; this does not apply to shape-shifting protagonists and "otherworldly" beings in animal form.
NO books with multiple females in the same sexual relationship. These books do not typically sell well to female readers.
Submission Tips
Professional cover email, clean from errors or awkward writing.
Clear synopsis. Thoroughly explain the story in a straightforward manner, from beginning to end. Do not indicate that if we want to know the ending of the book, we must acquire it first. We won't.
We strongly encourage:
Writing books you would actually read and buy to read for yourself.
Creating believable and likeable characters that evoke the reader's emotions.
Developing an emotional connection between characters, with the sensuality worked into the development of the romantic relationship.
Structuring your plot with goals, motivations and conflicts strong enough to carry the length of the story. We like to see well developed internal AND external conflicts. There should be a reason the protagonists can't be together that has everything to do with their personalities and/or their dreams, hopes, or deeply-held beliefs, as well as a reason they can't be together that pertains to forces outside their relationship.
Using a good blend of dialogue, narrative and action.
Constructing an intriguing, believable plot, without major holes. No "miracle" resolutions.
Utilizing your originality. We prefer not the same plot elements and character types everyone has already read a hundred times. Write in your voice, from your perspective.
Ensuring you write from a clear point of view, without "head hopping." Keep POV changes within a scene minimal.
Avoiding first person. We will consider it on a limited basis, but it must be VERY compelling.
Building your world (especially in paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi) that doesn't overshadow the characters and/or relationship.
Choosing character or other proper names that aren't difficult to pronounce

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The scope of threats to human security at the dawn of the 21st century is daunting. Terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, nuclear proliferation, failed states, ideological struggles, growing resource scarcities, disparities in wealth and health, globalizing trends, violations of human rights, and the continued use of force to advance state interests, are all complex problems.
During the past 20 years, peace psychology has emerged as a specialty in psychology with its own knowledge base, perspectives, concepts, advocates, and preferred methodologies. Peace psychology is now well positioned to develop theory that will enable us to more deeply understanding the major threats to human security, and practices that will help us address some of the most urgent and profound issues that bear on human well being and survival in the 21st century.
The Peace Psychology Book Series recognizes that the emerging and multi-faceted problems of human security in the 21st century challenge us as scholars to demonstrate the usefulness of peace psychology for constructing theory and promoting activism aimed at the prevention and mitigation of violent episodes and structures around the world.
