Book One in the Federation Counter-Terrorism Department series
For the Department of Counter Terrorism, Shana Adams had presented her report at a classified meeting discussing a possible threat to the seven sectors of the Federation of Nations. The twist was that she was a psychic on earth during a time when being a psychic would get you and your entire family "disappeared"-probably put in a lab for scientists to experiment with. The man who hired her, the man who was her boss, Marcus Carlyle, was the bane of her existence. And then she started hearing someone's thoughts at work. Someone's lustful thoughts. When those thoughts turned out to be Marcus's, then there was a serious problem. Since she'd been fantasizing about him all along, she was like a dry campfire, just waiting to be lit.
When Marcus summoned her for a private meeting to discuss a crucial security breach at work, something snapped. In spite of having trained herself for years to be impervious to others' brain activity, not only did Shana's resistance to his mind disappear, his thoughts seemed to enhance their uncommon explosive chemistry. This brought serious issues for Shana, since Marcus's family was known to be stalwartly against paranormals.
How could she bring herself to tell him that she herself was a gifted psychic, much less that it ran in her family? And just as bad, when she started having suspicions about who the leak was in the Department of Counter Terrorism, how could she tell Marcus who she thought it was?
Melissa Schroeder presents a story filled with sexual tension that builds and explodes several times. The chemistry between the hero and heroine is so lethal you can touch it, and the obstacles between their happiness seem insurmountable. VOICES CARRY is a fast-paced, spicy tale of the courtship of two well-conceived characters (not to mention some interesting interactions with a desk, a shower, and some handcuffs) and it delivers a sizzling kick I guarantee you'll want to savor time and time again. And-if you're reading this Ms. Shroeder, I do hope that you will grace us with Shana's brother's story as well!
