Dark Erotica

Lessons Learned

After reading the first installment of Katrina Strauss' Eldridge Legacy, Secrets Revealed, I've been curious to know what happens next. I was overjoyed to have the opportunity to read the second book in the trilogy, Lessons Learned.

Lessons Learned is penned in a similar fashion to Secrets Revealed and I must again warn the readers that this is not a vanilla romance. Though not as adventurous as the first book, you will still find elements of BDSM, partner-sharing and lesbian frolics within its covers so if this is not your type of thing you will want to avoid this book.

Fates Fulfilled

All good things must come to an end and sadly I have finally finished reading Fates Fulfilled, the last book in Katrina Strauss' Eldritch Legacy trilogy. I've been lucky enough to have been able to review this entire series and on the whole it is one of the most enjoyable I've read in a long time.

We first meet the Eldritch family in long ago Europe in the first book of the series, Secrets Revealed. Travel forward a few hundred years and we run across some old friends and new in Lessons Learned, the second book in the trilogy. In this final episode, the Eldritch family has turned up in the new world in near present-day West Coast America.

Secrets Revealed

I can honestly say I've never had a desire to be locked in a dank dungeon until I read Secrets Revealed by Katrina Strauss. Ms. Strauss presents a vivid picture of what it is like to be a young woman who enjoys her pleasure fueled by pain.

And yes, I mean that literally. This is your warning that Secrets Revealed is not a vanilla erotic romance. You will find BDSM and other treats in the pages of this steamy opener to the Eldridge Legacy trilogy. Know thyself and steer clear of this book if it isn't your cup of tea.

Eternal Embrace

With all the vampire stories, novels, movies, plays and even TV serials created over the years for the nosferatu connoisseur, I had finally come to the conclusion: They’re not just beating a dead horse here, but re-microwaving the meat. Seems I was a little too fast to draw that conclusion. So, you may ask, alright Laurie, what more can be done with the sexy allure of the vampire that’s not already been done to death - or undeath, if you will?

Eternal Slave

I don't make a point of this here at Novelspot, but I am, among other things, an editor. Editing is a funny thing. It teaches you a lot about a writer's makeup. How a writer reacts to correction reveals real insight to her character. Some writers balk, some — including myself — argue till they're blue in the face even while they make the correction. A bona fide writer looks at what was a mistake, digests it, and then spontaneously assembles the lot into something unique. When I edited a short story of Terri's a year ago, what impressed me was how quickly she transforms obstacle into writing opportunity. She's the kind of writer who will fly wherever the words take her.

Chaos

I have only recently begun reading paranormal romance; mostly sticking to plots involving vampires. I am now, however, beginning to read more shape shifter plots, particularly werewolf storylines, in addition to all of the other sub genres that fall under the paranormal umbrella. I have not previously read any of Ms. Weldon’s work, but the various plots of her Wanton Werewolf series intrigued me enough to give them a go. I decided to read the entire series, in order, and will complete separate reviews for each, although they do have a few points in common.

Redeemer of Shadows

Hathor Vinceti arrived at a hidden modish London nightclub expecting to meet her aunt. What she found instead was a club that looked like a decadent underground dance hall and brothel straight out of the twentieth century. Realizing this address couldn't possibly be correct, she continued to peruse the place and received the shock of her life as she discovered she had entered an underground sex club. Soon a strange chant began to sound in her mind and she began to feel sexually aroused. All of a sudden, a man unlike any other appeared in the center of the stage. Hathor learned this strong-armed, broad-shouldered, slim-waisted, very attractive man went by the name of Lord Servaes, the Marquis de Normant and was a vampire.

Rapture's Etesian

With Rapture's Etesian, Charlotte Boyett-Compo returns to her dark fantasy romance Windworld series, a series full of vampires, werewolves, demons, and wild warrior men and women. Every time I think there is no way Ms. Boyett-Compo can top the last one, she proves me wrong. So sit back, get your loved ones in the house, bon-bons in lap and be prepared for anything.

After a childhood incident leaves Lady Kynthia Ancaeus an unwilling bride, she makes the decision to never let anyone have power over her again. With that decision she agreed to become a Reaper, a creature that is both a vampire and werewolf like creature. A creature destined to live alone with no mate for hundreds of years. Or is she?

Belly of the Beast

Lady Mariel Champlain had been an innocent living in the house of her father who had become a drunkard after losing his fortune. She was completely taken by surprise by the fierce knocking on the door from the Trull, a demon soldier of the dark Lord Valdamer, the warlock who ruled Daeksould. Tossing her father a bag of gold, the Trull had taken her away on his firehorse.

The impoverished Lord Champlain had sold his own daughter to Lord Valdamer as an offering. The demon soldier Behsart had journeyed to fetch her to be sacrificed when they reached Valdamer Castle. But it was a long distance to Valdamer. On the way, the Trull told her, they were on a pilgrimage to the temples of the seven demons who rule Daeksould.

Peace Offerings

Mackenzie was as lovely and fair as a faerie princess. In fact, she was a faerie princess. Her mother, the ambitious Queen Moya of the Blessed Court of faeries, had decided to cement the fragile year-old peace between the Blessed and Unblessed Courts by offering Mackenzie up in marriage to Prince Elwyn. Those of the Unblessed Court were said to enjoy bondage and torture; Prince Elwyn had a dark reputation even for a land full of dark reputations. Mackenzie was not thrilled by the idea of that kind of marriage. Besides, she was mourning her beloved Cedric who had been dead for a year. She had known love before, with Cedric, and she wouldn’t take less than love in a mate. Not that she was chaste, by any means--but she wanted to choose her own mate.

Valhalla - The Valkyrie Beginnings

Linnea was a Valkyrie. As a Valkyrie she was able to go forward and backward in time plucking dying men from the battlefield. Once these men were removed from their own time periods, they began an intensive training regime to become a part of an elite army chosen to take part in the forthcoming apocalyptic battle. Linnea, however, had special gifts that others of her kind did not: ones that the elders in her tribe found useful because she was able to find specially gifted male individuals through visions. These individuals were recognized as necessary if they were to be able to fight the war against the supernatural elements and the demon vampires. While on assignment to ancient Scotland to find a man name Bhreac Laochailan, Linnea encountered a man unlike any other-a man she was struck speechless by!

In Moonlight Madness, Rhea finds herself sidetracked by a one night only "Moonlight Madness" closeout sale. In the shop, she finds racks with furs of all different kinds and a clerk willing to do anything for a sale to the right customer. As she talks to him, she becomes uncomfortable and realizes he knows too much about her. Just as she goes to leave, the clerk decides that he has just the coat for her. But is it the coat for her?
