Why I read/write:
I read to escape the world, of course, but there are other reasons, too. I read my favorite writers to evaluate how they write. What is it that I like about their writing? I also read to learn more about history. I love a variety of genres. I enjoy nonfiction history books (not recent history, but history of more than one hundred and fifty years ago), I also enjoy historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, and young adult fiction. I do not enjoy mysteries, true crime, or horror stories much. I suppose I should read more romance novels because that seems to be the biggest market for ghostwriters right now. I write as a form of self-expression, a form of escape, and a way to sharpen my mind. I am attempting to make a living by my writing; currently, I am writing articles for one client, and an e-book for another. This is just the beginning.
Bio:
After teaching English on the college and high school level for nearly twenty-five years, and after being a public library director for eight, I have settled into an early retirement. I am testing the waters as a freelance writer, and a friend of mine, Steve Lazarowitz, introduced me to this site. I used to write reviews for new books as a librarian, and I would love to do so again. I look forward to working with you!
